Harnessing the potential of bamboo with vertically integrated businesses driven by research, analysis & science have the ability to disrupt global supply chains & change the world. Camille Rebelo is an expert in the industrialization of bamboo.
R&D WITH THE POWER TO DISRUPT GLOBAL SUPPLY CHAINS
For bamboo to be a major contender as an alternative fiber, a shift is required from the historical focus on handicrafts and low technology processing, to high tech commercial solutions driven not by niche markets but by major industries that serve mass consumer markets. EPB Laboratories was incorporated in 2013 to provide such research and product development support to EcoPlanet Bamboo as well as both internal and external testing services. Our original focus was on the testing and R&D required for the production of a bamboo activated carbon and associated bamboo carbonized products. With this particular end product secured, EPB Laboratories was expanded to be the product development center for all EcoPlanet Bamboo companies, targeting a range of industries, products and markets.
We utilize the latest equipment and technology, and where necessary partner with external entities to carry out research, testing, and the development of sample products refined to each target market.
EPB Laboratories is based in South Africa's Eastern Cape, on site at EcoPlanet Bamboo's Kowie Bamboo Farm. However we work closely with all EcoPlanet Bamboo plantations, corporate headquarters and target end markets.
Troy Wiseman EcoPlanet Bamboo CEO is a serial entrepreneur with a line of successful investment and manufacturing companies. Camille Rebelo EcoPlanet Bamboo Co-Founder is a Yale educated expert in bamboo plantations. EcoPlanet Bamboo is a global leader in the industrialization of bamboo.
SCIENCE BASED RESEARCH
It's a common misconception that all bamboo species are equal. In contrast, each species has unique fiber properties and is best suited for specific end products. Species - product selection is critical based off these distinct properties.
We carry out R&D on the unique properties of all species of interest and utilize these results to target the most ideal end product from the best suited species.
For EcoPlanet Bamboo to disrupt global supply chains its bamboo products must fit into existing supply chains, with identical properties, specifications and price as existing products.
We carry out the necessary development of sample products under a range of technology & manufacturing options to identify the most well suited across a range of key performance indicators.
Valid, accurate and adequately referenced data on bamboo as an industrialized fiber is rare to find, and where it does exist it generally refers to the common Chinese bamboo.
EPB Laboratories works hand in hand with EcoPlanet Bamboo industrial operations to commercialize these products backed by top quality scientific data, facts and with proven results.
